Bottleneck?

Not too sure if I should put this thread in the CPU forum or the GPU forum, but does my sig rig have any bottleneck whatsoever? I have been reading up about it lately and am just curious..

Thanks

No.

Only thing I would point out is that the PSU might be a little low, but no other bottleneck.

Ok sweet. I want to upgrade the PSU sometime in the near future.. Either the monitor(s) or the PSU will need to be upgraded first, I haven't decided yet. I am going back and forth between 550W/650W/750W PSUs... I just need one GPU, but I want it to be future proof for newer GPUs too. Maybe I should buy a good 550W modular for my single GPU setup, and an 850W modular for my SLI setup at some point in the future? That way I'm performing at optimal levels and 80+ efficiency with non SLI and SLI. Fully modular would be nice too.. gotta love swapping the PSU in a matter of seconds!

I'd go with a 850W+. And yes, the modular ones are nice!
Could probably do with a 650W+ though... ;P

You mean just an 850W for my future proofing needs and not bother getting a separate PSU for the single GPU setup?

I can't say that I find any advantage with buying two different PSU's. Why not buy 1 that is both future proof and that satisfies your current needs? I mean, with a modular, you won't have any cables lying around in addition to that the components only drain what they need, so you're not wasting electricity either.

No bottlenecks man, just get a Good PSU, I was using a Q8200 overclocked 3.1Ghz with two GTX480's until I sold both the cards lol....

If you are looking to get a single GPU setup, I'd say get the 580 and a decent 700watt PSU, corsair or silverstone comes to mind.

Every system has a bottleneck some are just more serious than others. Sometimes the bottleneck is obvious, normally though a bottleneck will be very dependant on the game your playing, some are more cpu heavy or gpu heavy. Really no point in worry about whether you have bottlenecks unless you are having trouble running something in the way you want to.

As for the psu for a single card setup there is no need to get more than 500w worth of quality unit, 650+ is probably all you need for duel gpu setups. check the TDP of your components and you can work out for yourself how big a psu you need.
