psu req for sli 480 or 6950 (flashed to 6970) in crossfire

Hey there thinking of either gettin gtx 480 sli or hd 6950 crossfire can anyone tell me what psu i would require for either and kinda off topic but which would be better to get in you're opinons as i am still deciding on which set to get i know 480's would require more power and probably use alot more energy, run real hot and give a fair bit more where as 6950 would cooler, use less energy and not sure what else? anyhow i would be simply playing at 1920x1080 thx!

If you're just playing at 1920x1080, you don't need a 2-card solution, either of the cards you mentioned will run anything fine at that resolution.

o ok well between the 2 which would be better value as a single card solution? i can get either at the same price. and i am assuming a 750 pc power cooling silencer would be enough? i kinda want to go sli/crossfire regardless but i'd still like to know!

If you plan on going SLI you will need a 750. If you are just looking for single card PSU for now you can get away with a 500 or maybe 550 if you are overclocking your CPU and GPU.
I would go for the 480 myself, it's a decent clocker and it's pretty tough. It does get warm though.

The 6950 would be the better value for your money, but the gtx 480 outperforms it by a fair margin if you have the money to spend on it

650 would be enough either single card!! You could crossfire those 6950,s with a good 650 also!

what about a gtx 570? also in that price range1 ( newer version of the gtx480)

well for me i can get 2 used gtx 480's for about $150 less then brand new standard gtx 570's and i know the performance difference would be minimal if any but i do realise the 2 gtx 480's would bring much more heat but i am now thinking about gettin water cooling for them. or possibly even aftermarket air coolers for them..

6950 flashed to 6970 would definitely be your best bet. Also, you're good with this power supply if you're doing crossfire: http://www.coolermaster.com/product.php?product_id=6658

If you're not doing crossfire, then this: http://www.coolermaster.com/product.php?product_id=6657&category_id=3576

Fedorski, don't forget to fill in your specs in your signature, using this link.

Between a 6950, or an unlocked 6950, or a GTX 480, in terms of performance per dollar, the 6950 is a far better value. A good 500W unit is all you need to run one. The Antec Neo Eco 520 will do quite well.

Now if you'd still like a 2-card configuration, get a 650W for two 6950s, and a 850W for two GTX 480s.

Not really

I have a 6950 2GB, Metro 2033, crysis Warhead, GTA4 would benefit from 2 or something just a bit bigger, but my x4 40 is part of that I guess

Now I like keeping it over 50fps, without reducing settings, but can't do it on 1

I can't wait to CF, I'm holding off on Metro 2033 until then, the other 2 run plenty well enough, just about maxed
