Sony may not have got millions of dollars, but they've stopped him from developing/hacking on the PS3 (and probably all Sony products in the future as well), which means they've actually won since one of the prime actors in this scenario is gone. Sure, someone could step in to replace him, time will only tell.

I highly doubt Anonymous's actions went in to play here. There's been very little info recently as to what has been going on in court. Settlement's are usually done quickly.

Not being able to touch a PS3 sounds like a WIN to me...

Sony was scared out of their minds of a ruling that the PS3 belongs to the person who buys it and they can do what they want to it, short of violating copyright law. That would include "jail breaking" in order to run home brew or to re-enable Linux.

Anyway, they showed they were willing to try and bankrupt Hotz, Hotz showed he wouldn't just roll over, and they came to an agreement that at best saves a little face for Sony. An injunction against releasing what has already been released does nothing really. He seems to have escaped paying fines, having equipment confiscated, etc.

Overall I would say it actually worked out pretty well for Hotz.

Oh so now it's shopped!

When will your excuses ever end?

And his Xoom roots are freely available on his website.

Prove to me it wasn't...And I said his Xoom roots were available.

My point is, he hasn't done anything of worthiness vs Geohot.

What Geohot did on the Ps3 was actually ingenuitive, intelligent and complicated.

Xoom roots are far from.

I even still answered you...In a comparison of the 2 regarding Geohot's history, I would absolutely give the job to Koushik because even though his contributions weren't as skillful...I don't have to tell the boss I'm hiring that jackass from Youtube. (His exact words, actually)

Just like in Geohot's situation, a simple search can discern one's entire reputation...Good, nor bad.

Track's situation happens to be the same as Geohot, a simple search and all is revealed.

That's my point.
I was actually replying to Tracks. Not sure if you can see that since you blocked him.

*sigh* Well, this thread was fun. I'm gonna go find something to chew on. Maybe some crackers (is that supposed to be a white joke?!) or some kinda somethin...

My point is, and I'll end with this, is that you don't even know the injunction terms and yet you (and many others in this thread) were trying to map out how horrible the rest of this guys life will be because of "OH LAWD BACKGROUND CHECKZ!". Jump to conclusions much?

But I guess I can understand why you would do it since you were apparently on the phone with the mega hotty lawyer from Yale across the street over the course of this monumentally important OCN thread.

This!!

I wouldnt be surprised if he was offered a job by a competitor of Sony, Microsoft "Enemy of my enemy is my friend."
If there was no court case, he definitely would NEVER agree to no Electronics outright. That would be Stupid. whoever insinuated that should slap themselves. Sony Products, hell, I'd agree to that. May do that anyways without Sony asking/demanding, I really don't like them after this crap and that old NGE debacle...

How do you screw up SWG?...they did.
