I know a couple people working on the case and the "rumor" is the injunction is more than just the PS3.
So someone who gets sue by Sony will want to own Sony products why? Also what if hacks a new product and releases that hack under a new name or gives it to someone to release?

It doesn't matter why or why not...It's to boost his public image.

You hack your xbox...Microsoft sues you...You lose the ability to ever own a microsoft product again VIA a settlement...Then you walk out and declare a boycott against that comapny...

Who do you think the public sides with?

Dur dur durrrrrr.

He only joined the boycott to boost is own image...Nothing more, nothing less and you people are eating it up...

You'd be an idiot to solely choose the ps3 platform when going after an injunction. Sony obviously wouldve chosen something broader, like banning him from using any device under the playstation name+network, or even the sony name which people have said.

And both sony and geo are losers in my book. Hopefully this will be the last thread about them as I'm really getting sick of this.

So he lost because he can't use Sony products?

Being limited from using a product for life and having this on your record for the rest of your life...

Absolutely that's a loss.

Imagine what happens next time he gets caught hacking...

I actually just find it funny, it took so long to hack the PS3 and now that its hacked its by far the easiest of the newer systems. I bought mine off a friend and within a few hours I had it jailbroken.

umm...a settlement means he has nothing on his record for life...stop trying to make it worse then it is jeezus. the case was dropped therefore he can have it removed so it looks like nothing was ever filed...

I like it how everyone is shouting "Yay Anon!".

Anonymous had more than likely no part in the settlement. If Anonymous was causing any actual damage against Sony, I'm very certain they would have only continued out the lawsuit even further.

People forget that Sony is a HUGE tech company, and more than likely has plans in placed for DDoS attacks. They just aren't some Mom & Pop company in the middle of Iowa trying to make it big.

Sorry, but Anonymous didn't win this, nor did Geohot.

The case wasn't dropped, it was settled. There's a difference.

This. So much this.

GeoHot will have this on his permanant record. Good luck landing a job with that kind of background check other than McDonalds.

His MO was to hack the PS3, and to keep doing so. Now that he's agreed to Sony's wishes, it means he's barred from ever doing it again. If he does, guess what, it becomes a criminal matter and not one of civil. Jailtime for offenses like that are what? 20 years? You think GeoHot is stupid enough to risk that for a little more street cred? Hah.
