The media attention alone and the many forums this has been posted across will make this filing VIA Sony, live on forever.

There is a public record, it's also on his permanent record there was a settled dispute.

Nothing has to be actually filed VIA court for it to be a matter of public record. (So sayeth the lawyer I'm eating lunch with)
please tell where this Permanent record is?? not on a criminal level, not on a civil level(as it was settled and sealed there is no permanent record anywhere except between attorneys) Again, no background check will show anything about this except on his credit report, and that can be removed(disputed, and they(Sony) cant fight that to keep it on his record) as it was settled OUT OF COURT lol.

Sony has no choice but to except it. The DA didnt have enough evidence of anything illegal(tos is not law) so no charges were filed. yes he may hve to stay away from sony products but alot of people already do that and SONY hurt themselves more then Geo with this lawsuit.

Really? Cos I still see a boatload of PS3's and games being sold, Sony TV's purchased. The few who will boycott Sony are such a minority that it won't even matter. Sony isn't hurting.

Come to think of it, I wonder how many people on this site that have declared they'd never buy anything from Sony actually own Scythe fans (Sony bearing technology).

Google geohot and tell me there's no record of this ever happening.

If you get divorced and settle out of court, it's still on your permanent record.

This will forever follow him whether you choose to acknowledge that or not.

The lawyer across from me, just graduated from Yale Law School...I'd take her word over yours in a heartbeat and she says: "It will forever be a matter of public record that there was a settlement."

Sorry...That's reality.

I'm probably going to be buying more Sony games, and maybe even a PS3 all because of this lawsuit.

Will probably buy Scythe fans as well, and resubscribe to all my SOE games.

And no this is not sarcasm.

You are confusing the word 'correlation' from the word 'coincidence.'

Look it up.

My point in this is Hotz didn't win.

He got a wikipedia page out of it, a permanent record, barred from ever using a Sony product again and ontop of that, you can google his name and see how small of a claim to fame he actually has.

The only thing he seemingly won was, not owing a company millions of dollars...Okay, well...Small victory.

Where's he ever going to get a job in the computer world? What boss would hire a KNOWN hacker that's google-able?

Beyond google-able he has a reputation of defiance...

I agree with whoever said McDonalds...Geohot's only claim to fame in 20 years will be the fact he's the fast food manager at a McDonalds...
