2600k build help! - Page 2

It's achievable, indeed.

Does he even need a graphics card ? Just buy a decent low-end. Like the passive GTS 8800 or something like that ..
Radeon HD 5450 perhaps ..

Easily done.

You can have a nice build for that amount of money. Here is an idea but you can save more if you get a cheaper video card and you can change the case too. You should be within budget.

Great build. Just with a lower graphics card, as you mentioned ..

i just cant seem to do it myself as i have no clue on what specific parts to get e.g. good mobo for SB OCing.
all help is much appreciated, thanks in advance.
very poor decision,
for that budget getting a i7 2600k means in case of other components u have to buy very cheap products,
I suggest u to get this build,
cpu- i5 2500k
mobo- asus p8p67 pro
gpu- hd6870/hd6850/gtx460
ram- 2x2gb corsair vengeance/gskill ripjawsX 1600mhz
psu- corsair tx650
pc case- cooler master haf922
hdd- samsung sprinpoint F3
optical drive- hp 24x dvd burner
cpu cooler- cooler master hyper212+ (better ones wont fit your budget)
this is an exceelent build,
hope u'll like this

My H50 is somewhat better than your 212+, so I belive your OC is as it commonly should be at.

I just reset my BIOS due to a RAM OC that failed, but I think it was:

19x multi
208 FSB
1.550 VCore

Perhaps around 2200 on the NB and 1800-2000 on the HT.
RAM voltage was at stock or something ..

It's not quite 4GHz, I just rounded up.

I should mention my mobo sucks at OC'ing. Or perhaps I just got a bad CPU. I should be able to go higher on that voltage.

it can be done without skimping too much to be honest, I beleive if you want to oc you have to go with the p67 series boards which in turn means you will need to buy a discreet gpu can pick up a 5450 or whatever for £30ish though so that's not a big deal.

With no heavy duty gpu you can drop to a much smaller psu and not worry too much about a crazy high airflow case, something cheap and cheerful like a cooler-master elite would even do. with no peripherals and only a dvd-rw rather than blue ray I manage £627 shipped.

2600k £240

asus p8p67-m £110

8gb vengeance 1600 £90

1tb spinpoint f3 £44

then we start on more erm budget parts decentish none the less.

ocz 500w psu £41

5450 £30

CM "elite" £25

AC frezzer pro £18

generic ood £15

yh your right so it can be done thanks for going through all the hassle!
btw the temps with my 212+ on full load at 3.6 is only 44 degrees celsius which is pretty good and way below the max of 62.
