Need advice for MB & Video Card

Thread Starter
Hello everyone i need some advice in upgrading my system. I want to run Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition but i just don't know what mother board to run, i wana be able to overclock in the future so what chipset is safe to use.

I guess there aren't to many SLI MB anymore cuz everything i see is x-fire. So will a single GTX460 suffice to run crysis2, starcraft 2, and black ops? Or should i opt to go for an AMD/ATI video card.

Do crossfire with the 69xx cards.

Incredible scaling and performance.

But they are a tad bit expensive for my taste xD. Even tho its like a 30~40 dollar difference. But my friend did advise me to go for ATI/AMD video cards now, but im only looking to spend less than $150 so nothing to hard core hehe.

The GTX 460 is absolutely the best bang for buck right at the moment, it takes a few hits here and there from the 6850, but still comes out on top. It'll run Crysis 2 well and perhaps even better if you buy a factory clocked one, or have intentions of OC'ing it yourself.

http://www.geforce.com/#/Optimize/OP...ce-GTX-460-OPS

Unless you plan to run insanely high resolutions or a multi-display set up it seems a bit silly to be thinking about crossfireX, particularly with 6900 series cards. Plus we all know SLI scales better anyway

You shouldn't have too much trouble OC'ing with any board rated for 125W AM3 CPU's, I would recommend the board in my sig rig as it's overclocked like a boss for it's price, plus it's mATX too.

Both those boards use the 890X chipset rather then the 880 like mine uses, few more features.

They look pretty similiar, i'd imagine the M489GTD would come with an extra feature indicated by the G, can't seem to pinpoint exactly what that would be though.

The deal powertrip suggested isn't too bad, i'd be thinking good and hard about it.

So i should shoot for a 850SB mobo right? Those combos are pretty good, but i wanted to steer away from gigabyte this time around so i may opt for ASUS i just need to decide if i really want Nvidia or Ati now. My heart is torn.
