Anyway, thank you all for the input, it was certainly enlightening to get a feel for the communities opinions and comprehensions on the matter...

By the way, the rating had nothing to do with my post...

ESRB is a joke.
The rating had nothing to do with your post? Hrm. I didn't watch the video with sound. It didn't look like it was targeted at kids at all.

What specifically made you think it is/was?

I had a gigantic post, but it really would fall on deaf ears.

I tried it without sound, still looks like a kids game to me.

TBG!

Anyway, that is all I have left to say.

You guys are looking way too far into this. Portal 1 was rated M because it was part of the orange box, which included HL2. So the box itself was gonna be M regardless of what they did with portal (unless they put in some hardcore porno or something and made it A lol).

Portal would have easily made E with some very minor changes. For instance, the blood from getting shot up by turrets was just part of the Source code for getting hit by bullets, they never intended there to be blood. So if the blood on the walls were written in charcoal or on touch screens, it would've been fine for an E rating. There was just never any reason for them to do that on Portal 1 because it would effectively be rated M anyways.

I dont even recall the writing being in blood, so it couldnt have been that obvious.
I do remember it wasnt all written in red, so I dont see how the red writing could have just been some sort of red writing implement, like ink, chalk, pencil, etc.

So what if it's for kids? I'm pretty sure the game is going to be lots of fun.
