Disc read problems

So I used to have my 360/desktop set-up like this

And i had always had my 360 in a vertical position. Although I've noticed that My monitor was actually too high. SO i decided to bring it down just a little by putting my 360 horizontal and the monitor on top of it.

Apparently my Xbox does not like being horizontal because it wont read the discs like 3/4 of the times. and if it does it will give me a read error message "clean disc and reboot" in the game.

Can't find anything about this on Google any one have any ideas what it could be?

I only get this on the more scratched discs

I will say I have read a lot and expierenced that it isnt good to switch from horizontal to vertical and vise versa depending on which position you normally use. I know my older 360 has trouble reading discs in the vertical position since I had kept it horizontal since i bought it.

Probably just general wear (gravity) having it's effect on components over time. If you change it's position after a while that will put more awkward stress on the object than if you started in that position.

I don't know if this is Necrobumping.. However I would like to post the solution to this now that i have discovered it like almost 2 years later.

Basically the Values of the Potentiometer is off in the Disc drive and you need to go in there with a small phillips and a multimeter and Adjust it within a safe Range and test it till it reads your discs no problem. I revived this 360 by doing just that.

here is a link with information/ guide

Go ahead and take this down if its really that frowned upon. I just had so much trouble figuring out what was wrong on my own and i think anyone who googles such keywords should get an answer like this one. thumb.gif
