HAF X Airflow Air Duct SLI Setup

Thread Starter
So I am getting my second 580 today for SLI and plan on putting my Air Duct back in my HAF X case for the SLI cards. I have a few questions though.

1) I am using GT AP-15 for the fan in my Air Duct, is that a good choice?

2) I also have the stock 200mm Side Panel fan on intake. Should that be change to exhaust or stay the same? Or should I just remove it? (Front 230mm fan on intake, rear on exhaust, and 2x 200mm fans on the top on exhaust)

3) What's the proper placement of the Air Duct? I've heard you should place it slightly above the HDD bay? How do you measure that?

4) Lastly, should I even bother with the Air Duct? will it make a noticable difference in temps for my cards?

Thanks

Since you have a p8p67 Deluxe. The pcie slot is already double spaced. You might see a difference, but I would play around with it see if it improves cooling.

I don't use the fan duct at all, but i'm planning on putting a single 140mm Silverstone Air Penetrator there instead.

It makes sense to me because a) The way the Silverstone AP works is basically the same effect a fan duct has, and b) It's a bigger fan.

I tried it with another 140mm fan just to see how it fits and it fits perfectly. You just attach it onto the HDD bays.

I don't have a side fan on my HAF X though because i have a side panel with a full sized window. Also my card does not use a reference cooler.

I use stock HAF X for SLI 480's works great, no overheating issues, after MSI Afterburner used to control the GPU fans.
