Quick question before I follow your steps. Can I remove my AMD card, and boot up my system without my new Nvidia card installed on the motherboard? Can I just use the onboard video to go in and remove all the files then install my Nvidia card? I have an i7-2600k, Maxmimus IV P67 board.

Yeah, You Should be able to. Or you can just uninstall Drivers then remove the AMD card. It will just revert to generic Windows Drivers.

Ati uninstaller can remove the INF or other windows/chipset files in some cases, which leaves you with a PC that needs to be reformatted.

Great guide. I found a identical guide on YouTube as well. Covers everything here other than the AMD folders.

I agree. I've been stumped on whether to use Driver Sweeper or this manual method and I believe this manual method is the best way to go. You have complete control and know exactly what you're removing vs leaving the removing process to some program.

One question, should we delete ATI reg folder under HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software as well?

*edit* To everyone out there on 12.3 drivers, they are a complete nightmare. My system is a fresh install and 12.3 would give me random BSODs and I'm not even gaming! Just browsing the web, BSOD, one night I turned off my monitor after closing all open browser windows and seconds later my system rebooted itself, turned my monitor back on to see what the problem was, BSOD.

Word of advice, STAY AWAY FROM 12.3!!!

I went back to using 11.9 when I could leave my machine on for months on end without a reboot and no BSODs. I can play BF3 on 11.9 just fine. Like the old saying goes, if it broke don't fix it!

Thanks for the guide. I have run into some oddities with Driver Sweeper and my new crossfire setup lately, so I'm going to follow this method from now on. Now.. to install the 12.4s or the 12.5 betas. :S

I almost test the latest, but that might be my issue as well with a xfire 5850 setup.
