How To: Remove Your AMD GPU Drivers (New - 2016) - Page 34

it works fine, its just not optimized.

lots of people with 7xxx getting great results. Lots of people getting crappy results as well.

followed this guide to a tee (amazing how many little stuff graphic drivers install into a system) but I fired up DDU just in case, and seems like it still found some AMD/ATI stuff- so I used DDU to remove those too. Not a bad guide but using it in conjunction with DDU could be better.

Thanks for the guide man, made changing to another graphics a lot easier than reinstalling my whole system

Well I had ignorantly not created a restore point when I improperly tried an uninstall of beta3 to install beta 4. I could not figure a way to restore my desktop after it was mangled with beta 4 and my improper uninstall using the AMD utility. So I did a complete reinstall including deleting the old partition on my ssd. I had a windows 7 ultimate partition . My new install was windows 8. I did everything clean and then did a 8.1 upgrade with Start 8 installed to give me the look and feel of windows 7. I downloaded and installed all the chipset , usb, and sata drivers from the Asus website for my Crosshair V Formula Z board. I spent 2 days reinstalling all my apps. Everything appeared well. I used system restore for all 3 of my windows partitions to establish restore points. Then I tried to do a Catalyst installation of the newly released 14.4 driver not the beta. It appeared successful until the system rebooted and the desktop did not come up. I can not figure what I failed to do. Everyone tells me the beta 4 was not a problem so the final release should be less than no problem. Tell me what you think I may have overlooked. Of course I was able to use my restore point to go back to a usable partition, but I don't want to be stuck with old drivers with no Mantle support. Thank you for any help you can provide.

@BradleyW. What do you recommend for AMD based chipsets, I have a 970 and was wondering since AMD has released new gpu and chipset drivers (14.4) recently, if they're needed, if I have installed 13.12 the last one before this latest greatest. I run a FX-6120 and HD 6870 btw. I'm still kinda fuzzy on what it is newer chipset drivers do overall and somehow had it in my mind that the graphic driver updates had chipset drivers along with all the other stuff. Am I right on this thinking?

Really good explaination on the how whys and what fors on this subject. You would think after all this time that AMD could somehow make gpu and chipset driver updates/upgrades that could simply take out the old and put in the new and overlay without all the hassle but like you stated if you don't 'weed out' every little thing it does and can cause issues especially with the Catalyst Control Center.

As far as I am aware, the GPU driver package does not contain any Chipset drivers. And you'll be fine with CCC 13.12 if your not bothered about Mantle. (Which I'm sure your not since your GPU does not support it).

Thanks man that's what I was thinking too, that it was all about Mantle.
