I could not figure a way to restore my desktop after it was mangled with beta 4 and my improper uninstall using the AMD utility. So I did a complete reinstall including deleting the old partition on my ssd. I had a windows 7 ultimate partition . My new install was windows 8. I did everything clean and then did a 8.1 upgrade with Start 8 installed to give me the look and feel of windows 7. I downloaded and installed all the chipset , usb, and sata drivers from the Asus website for my Crosshair V Formula Z board. I spent 2 days reinstalling all my apps. Everything appeared well. I used system restore for all 3 of my windows partitions to establish restore points. Then I tried to do a Catalyst installation of the newly released 14.4 driver not the beta. It appeared successful until the system rebooted and the desktop did not come up. I can not figure what I failed to do. Everyone tells me the beta 4 was not a problem so the final release should be less than no problem. Tell me what you think I may have overlooked. Of course I was able to use my restore point to go back to a usable partition, but I don't want to be stuck with old drivers with no Mantle support. Thank you for any help you can provide.Edited by os2wiz - 4/27/14 at 8:43pm
