How do you android people deal with the lag? - Page 2

(1) I should know a flamebait thread when I see one. Yet I clicked...

(2) You assume that because of 1 person's experience with 1 phone, all such phones are that way for everyone?

Forgive me if that seems a bit Cupertinian, a bit Jobsian.

Apple were smart when making the iOS, carriers can do next to nothing in regards to adding applications(and customised UI are out of the question). Android on the other hand, is completely open and manufacturers can modify it to their hearts content and in the process usually make it slow and buggy.

If you want the best android experience root and install a custom rom, the developers usually fix all of these problems. Shame the average user won't be able to do that
So this is probably the reason so many technologically un-savvy people buy iPhones? I'm not saying everyone that has one is technologically un-savvy, but it'd make sense wouldn't it? They see an Android phone, try it out, and due to the bloated UI don't like it because it's "choppy". They then try the iPhone with its smoother interface and think it is a much better phone. Little do they know that they could root the Android phone and install a custom ROM (most of them would be staring blankly if you tried to explain this ) to make it much snappier.

Now I am not bias toward either phone. I personally have an iPhone 4, but I would also love to get an Android phone for the sheer customizability of it.

Look at some "software tours" of the HTC Thunderbolt on Youtube.

If your device seems slower than that, it's probably just your device.

In general, HTC Sense is one of the better stock ROMs out there.
HTC Sense is TERRIBLE. I repeat. TERRIBLE. Mostly all closed source roms are.

CyanogenMod is what you should be running. Although the TB version is still under development, you can still get RomManager for the Thunderbolt, which is the second step in getting a better looking, smoother running, faster feeling phone UI experience.

The first step would be rooting the phone and installing SetCPU.

Root + Custom rom.

The only thing worse than a stock rom is a display model running a stock rom. Literally 75% of the Galaxy S display models I've seen are completely broken, probably thanks to TouchWiz. Its so bad that most of them are running locked with a video loop so you can't actually use the device.

And the Atrix is horribly slow too. I tried it side by side with my Desire, and you'd think that the Desire was running the dual core with the fast gpu and the Atrix with the 3 year old single core and gpu that was designed by ATI before they were bought by AMD.

Sense is alright, but its still slow compared to an AOSP rom running LauncherPro. Its also hideously ugly.

no problems here with my droid incredible. its faster in everything and has better touch response than my friend's iphone 3g

I love sense unlike pretty much anybody else, but once i flashed it to cyanogen mod 7, it was worlds faster. so my advice to you is to root and then flash a custom rom such as CM7

Same phone I have. Since the final release of CM7 came out lat night, I have to tell everyone to go download it for their phone. My Inc. is running smooth as hell. Haven't tried any other kernels yet, though.

Thanks everyone for the constructive comments. I tried to root the phone but it still tells me that I don't have superuser permissions.
