4) To enter the 'app store' i'm guessing your program will have to be approved by MS first. That's going to mean less choice.

I know it will be optional to use. But it's a step in the wrong direction.

1) Macs copied Ubuntu, not the other way around.
2) Apps stands for "applications" which is synonymous to program.
3) How do you know? Have you tried it?
And yes, if I had to guess, it will probably be easier, click on Install a program and it does everything automatically, instead of going on a browser, finding the program and going through the setup.
4) What gives you such an idea? MS has always been open on letting people use their add-on software for Windows for free with no fuss.

I like it.

Is it all hosted by Microsoft?
Or hosted by the third party developer? (in which case it would be more of an "app search engine")

I don't know about Ubuntu, but I do know that Linux was the first to have centralized package management, and Apple copied the idea.

Ubuntu (and Linux in general) have had central package management for years. There's been GUIs for it for years too (like Synaptic, YaST, etc.).

Ubunu/Linux is a lot better than Mac store and will probably be better than Win 8 App store.

One just distributes game. The other does not.
