As I said before tests like 3dmark11 and Heaven are GPU bound. This means the CPU doesn't have to do hardly anything. You could have a 4.8GHz SB cpu with GTX 470s in SLI and get the same results as you would with a Pentium 4 probably (or a SB chip at 1.7GHz).

3DMARK11 IS GPU BOUND

Please stop talking if you have no idea what you're talking about.
^^ So basically what you are saying is that his CPU is not causing the bottleneck of his 3dmark score in the OP

Thanks, Balla for finally admitting that

Regardless to all intents and purposes the Op is not bottle necked by his cpu he might get a performance boost from a better cpu in some cpu intensive games, but it is not gimping his system at all.

My fps figures have been pretty much static moving from my quad phenom 4ghz to my 2500k and haven't moved a jot since overclocking it to 5ghz from stock. that's not just bench mark scores that's real life, in multiple games. My gpu's are not bottle-necked by my cpu they weren't by my old cpu either and my cards are more powerful than his 560.

You're welcome, anytime you want me to fully admit a benchmark that has nothing to do with the cpu (except combined) will not bottleneck on a Phenom II I'll be right here to tell you exactly that, which is exactly what I've been saying.

Anytime you want to play 3dmark11 your Phenom II is more than up to the task, just stay away from combined where it fails hard.

If hes not bottlenecked he won't get a performance boost from a better cpu.

CPU bottleneck:

Less CPU bottleneck:

Without changing my gpus or changing their clocks, simply by having a faster cpu I was able to almost DOUBLE my fps.

Check it yourself OP, with a single GTX 470 at 930 core on a SB chip in the same benchmark it barely drops from 99% at any point ie no bottleneck.

My 1090T, 4368MHz 3.1GHz NB.

GPU is even clocked lower, yet the 1090T can't keep up.

I'm not here to say you should upgrade to Sandy Bridge omg its so awesome!!1111oneone I'm just here to say yes, you probably have some cpu bottlenecking going on, but in a single card configuration the performance gain from having more cpu power isn't going to warrant the cost of a platform change. If you were buying new, SB offers superior performance at competitive prices and its a different story.

This is total user fail. No wonder you hate your old x6 and love your 2500k so much you cuddle it at night. I'm glad to see you overclocked your CPU-NB, but it is having no effect as you are running ddr2-1200 cas5, bottlenecked not by your CPU, but by your memory. /fail.

Hence my limiter on the statement, some games, some games are crazily cpu intensive, some games barely touch your gpu, it just how the damn things are programmed,

your scren caps prove nothing exacpt to show what cpu bottlenecking looks like, add more find the point somewhere between 1.7ghz and 5ghz where the cpu ceases to limit your gpus.

Yes because bad CAS 9 1600 is so amazing.

You got me now!

My ram clearly was having no effect!

So then it should be easy for you to not only beat my scores here, but clobber them with your amazingly awesome Phenom II NB with killer cool DDR3 CAS 9 1600 ram!

We'll start with my 1090T at 4.5GHz, you can beat that probably at 3.2 with your super ram.

Then we'll check FLOPS since they get a boost from CPUNB and RAM directly, another one you should have no trouble absolutely destroying with your epic rams.

Then after you run 3dMark Vantage and clearly show how far behind my system was with DDR2 by proving on your setup it looks just like it does with my SB cpu you'll beat my CPU score as well!

After all that we should focus directly on DDR2 vs DDR3 with the Phenom II, since you have the best NB in the world with the best DDR3 you should have no problem crushing this score:

I'll just toss up the SB results, just so we can see how inferior my DDR2 was to your DDR3 as well what I got with my SB inferior unoverclockable NB.

I'm sure you'll have no problem putting foot to mouth once you realize your DDR3 isn't hardly any faster than my DDR2 was. After trying to turn it into a huge deal then get absolutely crushed by SB it will become something of unimportance.

It gets bottlenecked but are you that worried?

Too late too upgrade to sandy bridge just wait for bulldozer/ivy, I'm sure you'll live with your quad core til then.

Indeed, there would be almost no benefit to him switching over to SB on a single 560 ti.

That doesn't mean it can't and won't bottleneck, it just means the amount it does and how often it will is generally not going to be large enough to warrant the switch.

Some games probably won't bottleneck at all or hardly any, others it might cause lower than normal min fps, but if it doesn't bother you it doesn't matter.

Bahahaha, ^THIS. DDR3 is considerably faster than DDR2,especially on a AMD that loves DDR3 with has tighter timings. It's just plain silly to compare a DDR2 rig to a DDR3 rig. EDIT- You can find anything you want on Google to prove your side,so nice troll bashing, bella.
Gotta love the intel fanboys.
