Is this a worthwile OC?

Thread Starter
First time CPU overclocker, here. I read some guides and i get the basics. I used intel burn and found a stable OC at 3.6 ghz @ 1.3v with my sig rig.
Temps are 30c idle and 70 during stress, 55-60 during gaming.

I was just wondering if this would be a noticeable gain over the stock 2.8, and if I had maybe put my voltage too high. most voltages under caused BSOD, and i currently have my multipliers at 170x21. Is there something I could tweak for a better oc or am i good with this?

appreciate any suggestions.

That isn't a bad overclock. It will help a little. I would say that you want any CPU to be at least 3.2ghz on average, so anything above that is fine. I don't really know about your voltages you are running, they seem a little high.
Temps look good though.

That's what I thought as well, but even 1.29 was giving me BSOD within a few minutes of intel burn. 1.3 held stable through a whole hour. That's why I was asking some of you guys who know much more than me.

Is there something I may have done wrong? The only thing I changed was voltage and bus speed. I know that OCing varies from chip to chip but 1.3 did seem quite high for an oc like this.

I'm glad I tried it though, my board [p55 gd80] has oc genie which worked fine but i think it badly over volted because i was getting 45 idles and 65 loads with the oc genie enabled.
