Minor 2600k overclocking question - Page 2

you have to use CPU pLL Overvoltage to get about 44x, its as simple as that man.

You also should disable those things you left on auto.

You need to flash to a newer BIOS. You have a UD5-B3? has Falkentyne suggest a BIOS for you.

Perhaps I have a faulty mobo? I am a bit reluctant to think that as I have likley just skipped a step somewhere.

Probably not a faulty mobo, some of the BIOS' that the boards shipped with are kinda buggy.
The latest beta bios' are here, load optimized defaults, reboot, flash bios.
http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte...beta-bios.html
A newer bios has pretty much eliminated the boot looping on my ud4, ud5 should be much improved as well.

The most stable BIOS to use at the moment is f3g, for the Ud5 B3. F3 final has some bugs, and the 10 levels of LLC have some strange voltage swings. Level 1 LLC has more vdroop than LLC disabled! (Auto/standard)

I've followed Sin's guide almost down to the button, but I am having issues getting my multi past 44. All my settings are on auto with C1E, EIST, C3, C6 States and CPU Thermal Monitor all disabled. Last time I enabled the internal CPU PLL it boot looped my PC clearing cmos/removing battery was infective. Had to leave it for min 15 min then put the battery back in and try again.

Could anyone help shed some light on this for me?
This is my first rig, and first time OC'ing as well.

Thanks in advance!

Using the gigabyte GA-P67A-UD5-B3 board with a 2600k processor.
u dont need to disable those, keep them enabled, and only disable specturm option. Also use load line calibration enabled.

Sandybirdge doestn require to disable power saving options. I did the samething disabled all since i switched from x58 and u need to disable them in x58 platform, and i couldnt pass 44x multi. Now i enabled them and i am at 4.8ghz 1.43v

Then you have a bug in your BIOS.
There is ZERO benefit to keeping those states enabled (besides thermal monitor) besides power saving and downclocking. Disabling them will NOT affect your overclock in any way. Enabling them will *NOT* improve your overclocks at all.

I disabled everything, and I can still use X49 multiplier on my CPU without enabling PLL overvoltage. (X50 requires enabling PLL overvoltage).

@Falkentyne So go with the F3G. Is this something I can download VIA gigabyte?

@turk-fx Regardless of if they are enabled or disabled, I still cannot get past x44

@Falkentyne at what point did you have to adjust your voltages manually? Perhaps this is the part where I am having trouble?

Maybe I missed it, but what's your voltage under load? Generally a 2600K will need 1.3V+ for 4.5-4.6Ghz. 1.35V+ for 4.7-4.8Ghz.
