Faster in raw power. Only by about like 5-10% though.
I would get the 6850.
Runs cool and uses little energy.
If the person has less then 35 rep and trying to sell you one, reportreportreport.

Really Nice Graphics Card here for the nicer one if you get it as a present or Good Graphics Card here if you buy it yourself. I'd still go with the nicer one even if you had to buy it yourself.

Without a budget to work with I'd build that right there, grand total before tax and shipping is $876.92USD. Not a lot of money for great performance. For the optical drive, they're so cheap now it doesn't matter unless you get a Blu-ray drive but even those aren't very expensive, maybe $70 for a combo one.

I hope this helped out, good luck!

BUY THE 6950! Save yourself a $100 right there.
They both will play everything you can throw at it maxed.

It's a win win. Save a $100, give or take a couple more frames? There really neck and neck to be honest.

Pretty much this if you don't mind the waaaayy overkill graphics card for a res of 1280x1080
I'd still get the Truepower 650 instead.
High quality Seasonic design.
“Green” with No Power Cord Included
His first build

Save...$100?
A 5770 would still max.
Nothing wrong with a little future proofing though.
I'd go with 6850.
Maybe a little bias cause I have it

Agreed, but if he got a PM for a 6950 for $140ish, then it's a no brainer to just get anyway.

OH!
I thought you said you'd save 100 by going 5850 over 6850.
If he got a PM for a nib 5850 , I would snatch it right away IF the seller is reputable.
Don't wanna get scammed on your first ever build
Price seems about right though.

Oh, I realize the monitor. Just suggesting the 560 because it apparently nicely fits the budget
Something in the 5770-GTX 460 range would be just fine
