Another vote for TeamViewer. Use it all the time, and there is an app for it on the iPad (if you have one).

Definitely Teamviewer!!! Use it all the time..... I have used several different remote apps Windows RDP, VNC, etc... and Teamviewer is definitely the easiest to use.. I have even had to try and walk none technical people (family members mostly) through router port forwarding over the phone to try and assist them with a problem. Now I just have the download teamviewer and within minutes I am in the computer helping them through their problem!!!

That's actually a good idea... I hadn't really thought about using it to do that.

My Netbook and Laptop thank all of you for telling me about Team Viewer!

It's great for that, there are also versions available for iphone/android too; you can RDP to your PC from your phone

The one in Windows is going to work better if you are over a slow connection. It's not "crap" and functions much better than Team Viewer.

Team Viewer works similarly to VNC in that it sends a bunch of images over the nework. RDP uses a bit different mechanism and works much, much, much better over slower connections.

I'm not sure of the ports off of the top[ of my head, but you only need to forward one or two ports to get it to work - along with enabling it on the computer and setting up a password for a user.
