6990 or should i buy another 6970? - Page 4

i may have to just take the fan that the card would hit on the bottom, and may be able to mod the case to where i can place underneath the case on the bottom ? i dunno, i just want the damn card. lol

but as i asked in a previous post, will my cpu oced 3.8-4.0 bottleneck the 6970+6990 setup? and will my corsair 850w handle this load?
Just looked it up for ya

AXP: 290 millimeters = 11.4173228 inches
ref 6990: 305 millimeters = 12.007874 inches

Now I'm not a 100% sure how it'd fit, but I remember having to angle
the AXP+6970 so I could get the card in. The same processes taking it out, which was a pain in CF

EDIT: didn't see your other questions, @4.0 I can't say for sure. I don't have any experience with PIIs. As for the wattage, it may be enough but it'll be just getting by if you're ocing cpu and gpu. What series corsair is it?

just measured with the fan out, and it looks like its going to fit. and i can still get the fan to work right under the case. i will have to do some cutting for it to work like i want it to. a nice weekend project it should be lol, but it will be worth it. giving how much thicker the 6990 is than the 6970 , im wondering if i should go ahead an order a ASUS crossair formula 4 mobo instead of keeping this gigbyte. the more i read about bulldozer "working" on it the more i want it. and im scared the damn slots are to close together on this gigabyte lol.

EDIT: its a TX series. i had nice scalling with my 5850's and 5870's oced between 3.6-3.8 . thats why i was asking. i know i probably shouldn't expect it to be perfect to start off. but im thinking the 955 should holds its own till i can grab some bulldozer or something.

I'd hate to cut a rv02 to fit the card Thickness is the same, they're both two slot cards. The 6990 is just a bit longer overall.

(You won't see me argue over the GF-100's!
I disliked them as well and owned Radeons during that period.

Radeons can't touch Nvidia's overall driver performance/stability/features though so I am back to the green team.)

lol, i feel you man. should have invested money into something else. But i guess we live and learn. But they got to much of my money, and unless ATI/AMD bankrupts, i will never own another nvidia product.

From the way im measuring, and looking into more fan placement options. I can probably squeeze the hell out of it to fit, or some how remove the shroud that covers the fan. it will fit in this case, some how or another. LOL its got to fit in this case, cause with the rest of the stuff i want, another case is not in the budget whatsoever.

Get another 6970 then get a third one later. Xfire and sli setups without matching cards are ghetto, no matter what cards are in it
