Who needs another card with the 6990 with OC like that on water! Beating even 580 SLI with those clocks alone!

sweetness. i have even thought of doing some water cooling. but thats a bit out of the budget for right now too. lol, because the budget consists of another mobo, a bigger ssd (so i can give my wife the two 30gbs), one more monitor (so i can at least have 2 for now) and either the 6990, or two 6970s.

im going to speak to the wife just to make sure she doesn't want a 6970 and that she is truly happy with the gtx260. if she says yes she is happy, then i will get a 6990, if not then i will be buying two 6970's . One for her, then i will have two (XFIRED ) lol. i think thats a fair deal. so i should be able to get the verdict here in just a few mins.

I'd like to see Tri-SLi GTX 570's vs a 6990+6970 @ 1600P.
I've seen it, I forget what resolution it was at but AMD won.

Also, I lol'd at your "Those who buy the best don't care about money" because right now AMD has the fastest single card on the market. Crossfire scaling is better than SLI scaling also. To beat 6990 + 6970 for $1000 you'd need to spend $1500 for 3-way SLI.

The whole "If you're buying $1000 of GFX cards you don't care about money!!1!" argument is stupid. I'm considering buying $1000 of GFX cards and I'm 20 working a part time job. Yes, I do care that I save $500 by going AMD.

Tri Sli is really not required unless you plan to set a world record.

6970 sli is great. It is one of the faster cards around and is sensibly priced than those nvidia cards.

Get another 6970!

You will go far in life if you are only 20 and already smart like that.

Wrong.
And the GTX 590 and 6990 are both hot, loud, power sucking complete wastes of money, (both GPU's even on performance charts too) so lets not go there. 3 6970's would beat/smoke a 6990+6970 and cost less.

Performance isn't the problem with AMD.
It's their inferior driver set with more problems and less features/stability and overall quality.

Performance wise they excel.
Everything else? Meh.

Want to save money? Buy AMD.
Want the best, highest quality, most stable gaming experience money can buy? Buy Nvidia.

I really dont know if i would use the terms "highest quality" when speaking of nvidia right now. j/k LOL and as for stable, i have had absolutely no issues with my ATI cards, and im running the second preview driver and am getting insane results, and nice temps.

Fixed before someone misinterrupts.

Get 6970, save rest for CPU upgrade when Bulldizzle launches and see what you can afford at the moment.

Edit: Not bashing bulldozer, just like the slang on it
