flashing the mirror

Gonna sound a little stupid, but got a new dslr today, and i took a photo in the mirror and the flash went off, it wouldn't damage the sensor or anything right? I feel silly

The flash doesn't put out that much energy. It's not a high powered laser...

potentially speaking you can shock your sensors by exposing it to a really brightlight. but most cameras have a protection system that avoids this.

just dont shoot into lasers. sun is fine though people shoot into the sun all the time so flash is no biggie

I came into this thread very curious about what "flashing the mirror" regarded, I guess this is about as good as i could have hoped.

And yeah, these are expensive high tech pieces of equipment, that are designed not to be so overly sensitive as to break under such lightly adverse conditions.

You'd be surprised. Concert lasers are proven to kill DSLR sensors.
