800D Watercooling advice.

Thread Starter
I need some little help with watercooling my new rig.
I want to watercool my i7 2600k and a HD6990.
I have a Corsair 800D and I want to settle a 360rad at the top.
I think 1 360rad isnt enough to cool my 2600k and a 6990 which I want overclock.

So where should I put another rad ? (Yes it need to be internal.)
Should I put a 120mm rad at the backside of the case or a 140mm rad at the bottom of the case ? The 120mm rad would be less work as you dont have to go to the bottom holes you need to go with the tubing if you want to place a 140mm bottom rad.

Thanks for helping and I hope you can understand my bad English !

You can drill out the drive cage at the bottom of the case and put a 240 in that area, it's what a lot of people have done. I did something similar for my HAF X, I'll be posting up pictures shortly today.

Ok so it is pretty easy to put in a 240 bot radiator ? As I'm not a good modder and dont have much tools. And I'm considering to settle my pump next to the hotswap HDD case.

This is what I did:

After you remove the fascia of the 800, there are 4 rivets tha you drill out (6 total...2 hold the midplate in place, you don't have to drill those out, but removing the cage is easier f you do) Once that's done, you cut out a hole on the bottom of the 800 for the fans to exhaust air out. (preferable method...intaking will only send warmed air up into your case) And it helps if you add a fan in front of it.

Not the best pics, but here's the general idea:

Here is my build log with a 480, 240 and a 92MM rad in a 800D

If you follow the above link ( Pencuri's link ) for the step by step instructions on how to remove the HD cage, It is pretty easy.
