I have scratched the vapor-x with this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102873 $99 after mir

Someone also suggested a 5830 within the same price range, but I don't know too much about it, I don't even know if it will fit. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-878-_-Product

Also, even though this is the ATI category, a couple members here recommended a 768mb version of the gtx 460. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc..._-14121390-L0A

Out of these three, If you were me, which would you choose? If you MUST post something different please give a good reason. I scratched the vanilla powercolor because I'd rather spend the $10 on aesthetics, but I appreciate the sleeper find
Go with the GTX 460, Its even out performs the 5830, SLI with another 460 and you are set, offers physX and 3D-Vision functionality, most of all its great for folding.

IMO, it offers the best performance for your money in the same price range as other cards. Plus its great for overclocking, i have my evga 460 SC running at 900/1800/2460.

Is it not just nvidia 'biased' due to the fact nvidia cards run tessellation better than the ATI 5000 series?

Well, if it helps... this card will just be used for gaming. I'll be using my old one for folding. Just looking for the best bang for your buck around the 5770 performance for gaming. I'm honestly leaning towards the standard saphire 5770 $99 after MIR. The gtx 460 looks nice but it is a little bit more pricey, and I'm not a graphics hog. Plus, I'm only running 1440x900. I won't be upgrading monitors.

Looking at the benchmarks, not just Heaven. The 460 out performs the 5770 in each one.

But at the end of the day its your choice and what you can afford.

I'm not a heavy gamer or graphics hog, but I would like to play my res on high settings, no AA or AF... maybe a little if I'm allowed to, but it's not imperative.

I was thinking about the Vapor-X 5770 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-898-_-Product

It has pretty solid reviews, nice temps, and it's just a tad over a $100 after MIR.

So how are the drivers for ATI, I've heard good... and bad. What do you guys think? Thanks for the help and reply guys, I will respond the moment I get out of work
In my experience use either the 10.4/5 or the 10.12 drivers, 11.XX are junk IMo

at 1440x900 the 5770 for $99 shipped is going to be hard to beat

Granted the 460 is a little faster, but costs 33% more

Thats is a great deal on the 5770. If you can't afford the 460 than the 5770 is by no means a lesser card and overclocks wells also.
