Strange one - files gone folders remain.

So ATM all my files are gone the folders however remain with nothing in them!

ATM i have my vertex 3 partitioned into OS and Games, I then created files on the F3 with corresponding names to the windows default folders. My music, my Docs and so on. Then using the location tab in the file properties I move them to the f3. normal stuff. This should let me use normal links and so on to access those folders.

Everything worked as you would expect I then got all my files from my f3 other partition copied them in, deleted the old partition, expand the current one. It was all fine.

so pic might help abit:

Despite windows search being disabled the searches folder seems to be the only one being correctly displayed in both locations. All the other folders should be represented in the c:/users/lewis and have the icon representing the folder type on the file to.

I'm still taken to the correct location when clicking downloads from the start menu.
The directories are intact for example videos-> Stargate->sgu->s02 then no files. all the folders are were they should be.
That boot file i have no idea were that has come from included the content in the pic in case someone knows, i cant delete it. error below:

The drive shows 100% free space besides the bytes used for folders.

So somewhere between be doing OS tweaks and restarting this has happened considering I've only noticed until I was finished I don't know what I've done.

I used this guide

I cant think of what else to say, So what would you guys do in my position. the priority is if I can get my files back and secondly can I restore the windows default file structure?

I have had no experience with data retrieval in the past, never had anything like this happen despite never using the recycle bin or system restore.

You can try recuva from piriform.com to get your files back but I seriously doubt you can recover them cuz trim probably cleaned it all up by now. I keep my users on my raid 0 so that all that is on my ssd is windows. I dont trust SSDs enough yet plus it will help the life of the SSD since no temp files are being written like java, flash, ect.

I just checked out that SSD guide and its not bad but there are a few things I would change. There is no reason to disable windows search, Dont disable NTFS Name creation and instead of clearing the page file you should have it on another drive or just disable it, you wont even use it with 8GB of ram.

Thanks for the help +rep, I got the important stuff back, porn ect. It's a pain that now I have a folder bigger then my house with nothing organise =\\ I guess I can restore from one file to another and build up slowly. Considering all the data was on the f3 I'm still curios over how it could have happened.
