Really needed to use teflon or some tape on barbs thread ? - Page 2

You only need teflon if the system leaks through the threads on the barbs. The Rasa barbs should not need it if you tighten them adequately.

If you insist on teflon make sure none of it can interact with your coolant easily. People thought teflon tape was the best thing in the world until it started to come apart in the fluid and began burning up pumps.

I always use teflon tape on my barbs with distilled water, had no problems for over a year now.

With as sloppy as the coarse threads on the fittings are, and how few threads there are, there in no way in hell I'd trust them with only the o-ring as a seal.

I use the thick tefflon tape that is rated for pipe threads, the usual thin stuff is garbage on coarse threads.
The trick is to trim the tefflon tape so only the threads are coverd after wrapping it on the fitting.

My ideas about what constitutes a trustworthy seal come from working on piping systems that typically run into the hundreds of PSI, or occasionally the thousands of PSI, often containing combustible and/or deadly gases, so I may be overkilling it a bit for PC water cooling.

I personally use the thin teflon tape just to make it easier to thread into acrylic.
