Am3 ram

Thread Starter
I am aware of AM3's memory controller limitation[Phenom II's only support DDR3 1333]. I've heard of issues where people ran it above 1333 and processor failure occured.

Is this true?

No. You might have stability issues with higher speeds, but it's not going to kill your processor.

AMD and Intel Officially only support 1333, but they can handle higher speed.

AMD via multiplier can run up to 1600Mhz, with bus clock OC most revs can run higher

^^ this

Amd prefer timings over speed and stability can be an issue at higher clock speeds, but all of this can be eradicated with careful application of voltage, mainly on the CPU-NB.

Get 1600 and play with your bios to get best effect.
