Opinions on my setup [Updated 04/13/2011]

Thread Starter
Hey guys
Just wanted to see what you guys think between these 2 setups.

This is what was...
Apogee Xt Block for i980x
evga gtx 480

Now this what it is
Corsair H70
evga GTX 590
Koolance Quick Disconnects

I was worried about my swiftech pump going under stress between the gtx590 i980x apogee xt mobo and radiator. I noticed right away that there was a little stress and low flow. Not to mention I got sick and tired of draining the system every time there was a change in components.
Hence koolance disconnects and h70.
But can anyone tell me if I had needed more then 2 pumps perhaps?
I am considering going back to apogee XT.
Kindly help

Why is that line crimped on the bottom? I think you'll be fine with one pump. I mean I don't own any water cooling parts but I played with the idea before and read up quite a bit.

Maybe that's where he drains his loop? I don't think it'll matter if it's kinked if it is.

So what do you guys suggest?
back to Apogee XT? temps were better with that. Just a little maybe by 5-7 degrees.
Using a Swiftech mcp 655 pump. You think I should be alright?
By the way what is the knob in the back of the pump for?

That pump is more than enough for your loop and you don't need to worry about getting another one.

I believe you have the variable speed version (someone correct me if I'm wrong) and that knob changes it from 1-5 (5 being highest, 1 being lowest). It affects your flow.

Besides the fact that youre pump is mounted really low, it looks pretty good to me. You could move it higher to get a little more flow, but from these other posts it sounds like the pump is already overkill, so its probably fine the way it is.

@Quaan I think you were better of with your Apogee Xt. I'm running a 360 rad, gpu block, cpu block and res off an EK-DCP 2.2 pump. Okay I'm not w-cooling my mb but still with that little pump I'm having not issues with pressure. How are your temps now with H70 compared to Apogee? If I were you I'd mount your rad externally and maybe add a second rad to cool that beast of a card you have there. And slacken up on the tubing so you'll have more tubing to get your parts out. I'd pull my hair out if I had to drain my loop every time I changed a component
