I do agree with the delay. I find the argument about costs weak, as for each game there is plenty of people that would test it for free. Just from the top of my head look at Rift - six or seven open betas before the release of final version.

The games themselves are better than they have ever been, but everything else is becoming worse and worse.
No. No no no no no no no no no no no NO! If a game is to sell these days it needs to be the same boring, bland cookie-cutter junk everyone already has nine copies of, and it needs to focus on an even more boring, even blander, even more cookie cutter junkpile of a multiplayer mode. Good games are few and far between.

Also, what about DRM? DRM is the main way they give us the finger.

I'm perfectly content with delaying a game so the existing team can get it right the first time. That's why I like Valve, they're not afraid to hit the delay button.

Though sometimes I think they hit it just for lulz. Or maybe to troll us.

Yeah! Games should never have bugs! This is because all developers are so perfect that they never even mispell anything, let alone not accounting for a particular hardware setup with a driver that just came out the day before. Real software developers always account for that a scrap all of the disks they had made, packaged, and shipped. Repackaging and testing games doesn't cost anything either by the way. Its actually done by underpants gnomes.

The only thing I'm really against( like many people) is the DLC already on the disk but locked. In the time there was expansion pack and those had something to give out some cash( FEAR and the two expansion packs:90$ MAX,CoD and the ''optional'' map packs:around 110-120$). As for now, the only DRM that gets on my nerve is GFWL when it's not letting me get the account from their server.

Also, the only REAL thing that get on my nerves: Developers/publishers never update the retail disks. I don't care that some patches have been released, just put them on the darn disk to spare me an hour of download since I buy games 1-2 months after release to get it almost bug-free.

^^^
That is a very real issue with usage based billing systems, like those being deployed in Canada. After the walloping I got on my bill because of overage caused mostly by the giant Win7 Service Pack 1, retail games that are not up to date on disk may simply be a no go. Of course, any kind of online gaming is pretty much ruled out, just like I go onto my Webmail and delete pretty much all attachments because downloading them to the mail reader is now too expensive.

Because it was never on the disk, only on the disc.
Some people buy Special Editions and never opens the package.

Well I see a number of people complaining about how you can't skip the previews.

PS2 pretty much always let me skip through to the menu, even when normal dvd players wouldn't.

Is this true of PS3?

Games used to have betas all the time. I've been in several in my years. Not such a common practice anymore, and it's not a great mystery why.

No, PS3 respects the menuing settings built into the disc. As it should...it's the disc author who is a jerkwad for making sections unskippable, not the player that is doing what it is supposed to be doing.
