Need active USB keyboard to PS2 port adapter

Thread Starter
I have a USB keyboard, but the KVM switch I'm using doesn't have USB ports, only PS2. I need an active USB female to PS2 male adapter for it. I have passive adapters already, but they don't work with this keyboard; need an active convertor. And no, upgrading the KVM is not an option, since it's for my terminal at work (we're all on networked KVM stations with crappy keyboards).

I've tried Amazon, Newegg, and eBay; and so far all I can find are either passive adapters, or active adapters for PS2 female to USB male. I know I've seen these in the past; but for some reason I just cannot seem to find them for sale anywhere.

I'm pretty sure they don't exist. You could make your own though with something like a Teensy.

I think he's trying to use a USB keyboard with an old KVM that only supports ps/2. That adapter is for using a ps/2 keyboard in a USB port.

I haven't seen any active adapters either. I think it's because they would probably have to charge over $10 with the small amount of demand there would be, and well you can buy a new ps/2 keyboard for that price .

I have seen them, but it's been a few years. It may be that no one is making them anymore.

I haven't actually seen anyone selling PS2 keyboards recently either.

Newegg has 97, starting at $8. The small computer store near work that only has 10 keyboards in stock has a few also. If you aren't seeing them you aren't looking .

Get a keyboard that uses PS/2. Most mechanical's come with PS/2's, I believe.

Most mechanicals come with USB. Then you can plug a purple passive (straight through wiring) adapter in to make it PS/2 on the cheaper ones. On the $275 Topres though they don't work. That's because you really don't need more than 6KRO unless you have mutant fingers.

Pinouts and other details here.
