Pro-est budget build ever? - Page 5

Go for a full tower case with high airflow such as the haf 932 or the HAF X. Lets say in the future you decide to upgrade, whats the point of buying another case, just buy a good case that will be future proof if you decide to add longer cards or bigger mother boards.

Rebates don't count in my suggestions
So it's not $30 more, it's $40 more

OP's choice

I find Anandtech's benches are over-suggested and quite unreliable by the way

Does the website calculate the tax when I type in my postal code?

Great suggestion, I was thinking of that. But an extra $100 can be spent on an SSD instead.

I believe so, what province are you in? BC or Ontario gets the HST by the way as usual
That or you'll be able to see tax amount during checkout

Or of course, calculate yourself

No one said that. Games like StarCraft 2 make a minority. But yes, to the ones that don't do research, yes: a Core i3 2100 is faster than even a Phenom II X4 970 when it comes to gaming. Go here and see for yourself:

Faster in Dragon Age Origins, Dawn of War II, World of Warcraft, Starcraft 2, Metro 2033, Lost Planet 2, F1 2010, and the same speed in Aliens vs. Predator. Only game in which it's slower, from the benchmarks I've seen, is Just Cause 2.

I'm not a fanboy. I just like to say facts, and these are facts. If you have a budget of $125 or over for a CPU for a gaming PC, you're much better served going the Intel route. Intel's offerings below that are a lot worse than AMD's.

lol 4FPS
Does it really matter...
Even Metro 2033, pretty much the most demanding game, ever, gets 0 FPS difference with a 970 at stock
OC and you win

That'll turn into 20 FPS or higher difference if he decided to SLI. The Phenoms run too quickly into a bottleneck.

As for Metro 2033, that's assuming you're comparing a Core i3 2100, a $125 CPU, to a Phenom II X4 970/975, a $190 CPU. Compare a Core i5 2400 to that or a Phenom II X6 1090T and the difference is suddenly 5-10 FPS. If you spend $30 more for a 2500K and compare average OC to average OC of the 2500K and 1090T, and you'll be looking most of the time for a difference higher than 10 FPS. And that CAN make a difference in gaming, especially at 1920x1080.
