So ... I think that I might have a problem with my Motherboard

Hello helpful fokes.

Okay, as the title explains I'm having problems with my otherwisely quite fine computer. Earlier today I had the brilliant idea that I'd just give my computer a little cleaning, just vacuum cleaning out some dust and doing a bit of a prettier wiring.

After getting all this done I sat down and hit the power button, expecting to hear the sound of smooth airflow. I did indeed get to hear a such sound, as the steady sound of fans blowing was now the only sound my computer was producing, and of course this would've been just fine if it wasn't for the fact that I was getting no bootup screen on my monitor.

So I opened up the case and started deducting what might be wrong.

My GPU (Radeon 6970 HIS) seemed to be operational as the fan was blowing at a fine pace.

My CPU (AMD Phenom ii x4 965 Black Edition) was atleast producing heat so I would suppose it's operational aswell.

My CPU fan (Cooler Master V10) seemed to be only somewhatly operational as the LED lights were activated but none of the two fans were activated.

My two case fans (Cooler Master HAF 912 stock fans) were fully operational.

I'm guessing that the problem is somewhatly related to my motherboard, judging from the fact that the two fans on my CPU cooler that should have been powered by it weren't running, and generally just the fact that no startup process seemed to be activated.

But as mentioned I'm just guessing, so I'd like to hear your guys view on what might be going on.

Well, I'm not quite sure as it wasn't mentioned in the sales description of the computer, and I haven't been able to get any software that could detect what kind of board it was, but I guess I can pick the computer completely apart tommorow and see if I can find any name or model number.

Ah fair enough, let us know. My M4A79XTD-EVO did the exact same, kept having to reseat the CPU. A lot of them seemed to randomly crash, and that was my cause, RMA'd it in the end.

Cheers

Yeah I know, I've been told plenty of times and I probably should go fix it soon, but I'm just thinking that each time I'm on this forum it'll be the last time, as I'm a happy optimist thinking that my computer will never get into trouble another time . .
But yea I'll make sure to add it.

But anyway, back to the issue, I don't see how vacuum cleaning stuff can magnetize it? You're just moving air around afterall?

As far as the vacuum stuff goes, I know it can generate a hell of a lot of static, but I'm not sure how it works.

I went through 2 budgety cheapo boards before it so it's one I'm well adjusted to now

RMA = Return Merchandise Authorisation, basically returning it on the grounds of being faulty.
