SLI 460s what card is better?

Tomorrow I'll be picking up another card for SLI. I've run into a slight dilemma. I have an EVGA card right now. And I have another that will be arriving tomorrow. But I haven't payed for it yet. So I might cancel.

I was thinking about selling my current card to my friend for $140 because he wanted to SLI as well. I would then pick up 2x MSI 460s because I hear try have better cooling.

What should I do?

My current card:

MSI card
http://ncix.com/products/?sku=55409&...r&promoid=1312

I won't be upgrading again till Kepler.

Also open to suggestions for another card budget is around $400

The MSI cards are sick. You can expect a way better overclock than with the Evga cards. Of course that solution will cost you a lot more to get into, so it is up to you if the extra MHz is worth it to you.

Yup, those MSI ones will OC like beasts.

Although if your budget is around ~$400, then you might want to look into crossfiring 6850s, I hear they scale crazy good.

Skip the MSI Hawks & save some ca$h. You can buy a couple of ASUS ENGTX460 DirectCU TOP 768mb At your resolution, you will have enough memory to run the same settings like the 1gb version. ASUS DirectCUs OC just as well as the MSI Hawks

GTX 460 768MB & 1GB review (shows you the difference between the 2):

If you can sell your reference 460 for $140 do it.

As a previous owner of both MSI 460 cyclones and the 460 HAWKS, I recommend the Cyclones actually. They are quieter and I got a better overclock on them than I did on the HAWK models. Plus they stayed cooler in SLI.

You have a 23" monitor, I assume you game at 1080P. It seems like your budget is about $400. For $440 you could get a reference 580...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-125-_-Product

If you're spending a fresh $400 I would look into getting a stronger single card. Just an idea. You can get an MSI GTX 570 PE TFIII for $360 which will OC close to SLI 460's and have more VRAM to boot. You have many options, but buying 2 460's now kills your upgrade path immediately, and as games require more and more VRAM, you might be kicking yourself in a year.

Definitely stay away from 768MB models of 460's though. Dragon Age 2 (a game thats been out for a month already) uses 1100MB VRAM of my gtx 570 when fully maxxed out. 768 is shooting yourself in the foot IMO.
