Are Graphics the biggest bottleneck in my system?

Thread Starter
I have some excess cash burning a hole in my pocket and want to upgrade. in my sig rig, what is the biggest bottleneck in my system (in your opinion)?

second, i think my 570 is holding me back. a bench of JC2 showed my gpu maxed the whole time with my cpu never going over 60% usage, so i think my gpu is slowing me down (correct me if i am wrong). I may upgrade to SLI 570's or a single 6990. what would the pros/cons of each option and would anything else in my system bottleneck my graphics?

thanks in advance!

most games are dependent on your gpu, while others on the cpu. same on benchmarks or tests in the benchmark. I think your current setup is pretty good, but if you got some extra mulla, sli gtx 570 would be nice especially for benchmarks.
Have you overclocked your 2600k? And yes, another GTX 570 would definitely increase performance significantly and is probably the best upgrade at the moment. Keep in mind that some games don't support SLi, but most newer games do.

Also, take a look at this:

I wouldn't call it bottlenecking.
More so your processor/psu can push a better card.

I'd look at 2x6950's flashed to 6970 or one 6990 with an option to upgrade later.

**Agree with the above about the monitor (maybe just not so vehemently).Maybe a new 570 to go SLI and 3 shiny new screens to show off the power?

my 2600k is at 4.2Ghz limited by a crappy board. Are there any reasons to go sli instead of a single 6990? benches say 2x570s are comparable to a single 6990, and price difference isn't enough to make a difference.

Price difference is over 300$ on Newegg and I don't think you can get nearly as much as that for your GTX 570. Also, I'm not sure how good the drivers are for the 6990. I've heard people are having problems at least in eyefinity.

I still believe another GTX 570 is the way to go.

Grab a SSD...unless you're strictly a gamer. Your HDD is your biggest bottleneck.

i plan on trying out a different brand card if i SLI so i will be selling my 570 either way for a little over $300. i know there have been issues with overclocking 5xx gpu's and cards blowing up, so would this be a reason to get a 6990 over a gtx570 sli setup?

btw i do mostly game. SSD down the road though.

If you can sell your card for $300 and have some extra cash 2 6970s would be better than a 6990.
