Need Help With "Oldschool" ATI Cards!

Hi now first... Don't kill me im a Nvidia card user (since the Riva TNT). I have been helping a friend with his old 775 Intel rig:

Celeron D 3.4GHZ Single core (i set the FSB to 166 just for "kicks".... The thing posted AND booted to Win 7 x86 desktop at 4.3GHZ retail cooler!). Being a longtime AMD user GHZ like that are rare this celery did it with ease!!

Gigabyte GA-81865GME-775-RH.

1024MB (single stick in first channel closest to to CPU) Elixir PC3200U.

ATI Radeon 7500 (unsure about MB! SE/XT/PE etc).

He had a total OS reinstall/upgrade from XP and purchased a copy of Windows 7 x86. I cleaned out and replaces thermal interfaces/blew out HS/PSU etc.

I installed Win7x86 (went smooth no troubles). The problem (s) are this:

I can't seem to source a Windows 7 Driver of any kind for the Radeon 7500 at all i know that this is not a Direct X 9 GPU so im well aware of no Aero GPU acceleration and that's fine i would just like to properly install the card but it's stuck in Standard VGA so looks (performs) rubbish i know people will say upgrade but im not really looking for this GPU to do nothing more than display the desktop correctly .

As im not familiar with ATI drivers/cards/tips n tricks etc im at a loss what to do?? I tried to put a X800 XT in i had in the bits box but that wouldn't even post (!?) ALTHOUGH it seems to have a HIDEOUS "Dragon" 400w.. (YEAH RIGHT) PSU (17a on 12V).

Any one with any ideas (IMHO more about why X800 XT won't post external PSU plugged in) as i feel this working is the best solution (DX9 = Aero).

Not used to being on this side of the "fence"...... Have mercy..

Thanx.

Thanx

There are no official Windows 7 / Vista drivers for the 7500. Tell him to bite the bullet and spend some money to get something newer and way more powerful. Here goes a nice 4650 AGP for $80 at the Egg. That card will destroy that old 7500 and will even do HP video no problem.

Figured that was the case m8 just wondered if there were any "hacks" etc to make it poss no worries.

Any idea about the X800 XT?? (has 256MB + dx9 so would do for Aero?). I have used this card (briefly couldn't find my way around the drivers to be honest!!! weird "terminology" for an Nv user! took ages to figure out what was what etc) but Aero worked ok no issues etc.

Thanx.

An x800 will choke on a Youtube video, nonetheless something in hi-def. get him a new card with proper driver support and be happy. And I really don't think there is any way to get a W7 driver for that 7500 unless you pay someone to write you a custom one for it.
