Hi,

I was wondering what your opinions on these 2 LED screens are. If you guys recommend a IPS screen, please link one that is as cheap as these LEDs. My budget is around 150.

Thanks!

I have an AOC current and had a Acer and I think AOC is the "sleeker" make but the witdth outside the screen (bezel i think?) is about an inch thick so not so good for eyefinity/multimonitor

I actually got that same Acer monitor about a month ago.
got it at newegg on one of their sales ($149)
I like it alot nice and sharp, no noticeable ghosting at all. good amount of inputs (have my PS3 hooked up to it too HDMI) also runs cooler then my AOC non LED monitor that I sold to a friend.

Also its pretty thin and not sure its necisarily a plus but it supper light wight. I constantly lift up the monitor when I go to turn it on. (the power button is on the bottom right corner) Its a plus if you intend to mount them to a wall mount.

Yea I was thinking. AOC thinner but there's no HDMI cause I don't really know when I'll be getting speakers. But the ACER is a bit thicker and $10 more.

Is $10 more worth the HDMI and a loss of a bit of width?

BUT whoaa, didn't see this. Now I need help haha:
AOC e2343F
Dynamic Contrast Ratio: 50,000,000:1
Dimensions With Stand: 22.3" x 17.1" x 8.9"

Acer S231HL
Dynamic Contrast Ratio: 12,000,000:1
Dimensions With Stand: 21.3" x 15.4" x 6.2"

The Acer states 21.3"? Which width does that represent? and how does the dynamic contrast ratio effect the screens?

Thanks for all of your replies they really helped!

Dynamic contrast ratios are totally made up

From Wiki
Quote:
There is no official, standardized way to measure contrast ratio for a system or its parts, nor is there a standard for defining "Contrast Ratio" that is accepted by any standards organization so ratings provided by different manufacturers of display devices are not necessarily comparable to each other due to differences in method of measurement, operation, and unstated variables.

OHH I SEE. That makes sense. Hey Dan17z, could you possibly measure your Acer? I feel like the measurements I listed above (refered from the tigerdirect and amazon) make make the screen a 22" instead of the advertised 23"

Have you looked at the Viewsonic VX 2250? It's a 1080p LED back-lit 21.5" display right in your price range. Viewsonic also has a nice pixel policy (zero dead pixels the first thirty days, or you can get it replaced. even after this thirty days their policy is better than most manufacturers.)

Edit: Didn't realize the displays you were looking at were 23". Sorry.

I just bought two of the AOCs. Beautiful monitors, I noticed a small issue is they are a bit wobbly, but my desk is very sturdy so it is a non-issue for me but it can be for some. Ultra light, ultra thin, very low heat output, very bright, very good colors, the contrast is better than my Acer, I actually had to calibrate the heck out of the Acer to get it close to on par with the AOCs.

I assume the price is so low due to it being a non-HDMI monitor. My vote goes to the AOCs

I hate to admit it but the color on the AOCs puts my 400$ ACER to shame.

ACER is in the center, and if it wasn't 120 Hz, it would be history.

The monitor is supposed to be a 23", but looks like it just about matches my 23.6" Acer, so that was actually a bit of relief.
