Best GPU for my Needs?

Thread Starter
I'm in desperate need of a new GPU so I'm finally going out and buying one.

-I run my games at 1600x900
-I play Crysis 2, Black Ops, BFBC2, and Fallout New Vegas
-I do not care about power consumption or heat, I just care about if the performance is right for me at the best value

I've narrowed my choices to:
  • Radeon HD 6870 (1 GB)
  • Radeon HD 6850 (1 GB)
  • GTX 460 (1 GB)
  • GTX 560 (1 GB)

Which would be the best fit for me? Thanks!

I have 2 Galaxy GTX 460s(Bought 2 1GB versions for $130 each ) in another build and they are very decent but the $40 spent on a 6870 is worth the performance. Your running on a kinda low resolution so some games will use more of the CPU so you will need graphic power.

The GTX 560 performs like a GTX 470 which I have in a Phenom II build and it performs a little faster than 1 of my 6870s

6870.

Get the 5850 and OC to the 5870 level - it'll outperform the 6850 from the start plus more when you overclock it if I remember my benchmarks right.

GTX 460 and overclock it to the max.
It'll be able to match the 6870 some of the time, but it'll be $40 cheaper.

GTX 460 will do.
And it will work nicely with your CPU.

Thanks guys, I've decided on the GTX 460 or the GTX 560. Of these cards, which is the better value?

The GeForce GTX 460 is better value-wise. The GeForce GTX 560 Ti is the best performer of what you listed, but probably the worst value-wise, not that it's a terrible value, but it's not spectacular in that regard either.
