a true 6970 will get you close to 1ghz if your lucky .

are you increasing voltage?

Yep , iv gone as far as 1.4v with volt unlocker but it will just crash anything more than 935 no matter what voltage .. is this the limit of my chip ? how so , if others reach 950-980 ..

Any suggestions as to why i cant overclock past 925 ? even at 1.3v it crashes =( msi ab applys my voltages but i dont think it does anything ? it says 1.3v but in gpu-z it says 1.175v max ?

Heat isnt an issue , 69-70c highest it gets and on 1.175v the highest i can go without crash is 895/1425 , 900/1425 will crash .. P.s its not the ram , its stable at those speeds .. its the core that wont budge much .

i hear about people hitting 950+ on stock volts , it baffles me :s my psu is more than enough , so is the cooling ..

sapphire 6950 , flashed with 6970 bios btw .

yeah those are pretty low clocks you are maxing out at.

Maybe try flashing it to a modded 6950 bios that only unlocks shaders and then manually clocking it as high as you can.

I think maybe I got a golden 6950 since I can hit 1020core 3dmark stable.

This.

I had two MSI 6950s that failed terribly with asus 6970 bios flashes with anything past 1.27v and 960 on the core.

After switching to unlocking I was able to hit 1000 @ 1.31v which I believe is right around the safe voltage.

1020 ? wow , nice .

Iv tried unlocking the shader only , didnt achieve much .. still crashes at the same freq and voltage .

Still a good card , i wont worry much .. upgrade sooner than later anyway hopefully .

Did you +20% with power control? 6950 unlocks rely on this especially if they're overclocked.
