How to calibrate monitor

Thread Starter
I remember seeing a thread on POTN to calibrate your monitor settings to match prints. Can anyone find it?

I just noticed from watching House that it looks completely different on my desktop from my laptop. Tried messing around with settings on my monitor but I have no idea where to start.

http://www.popphoto.com/gear/2008/12/inkjet-printing-20 for prints.

between different monitors however, color is always going to look off. it depends on the lighting condition, the backlight age and color temperature.

I'm not sure if you're wanting to calibrate for prints or just for your movies.

Spyder3 series by Datacolor is very good for color management if you are wanting to do accurate prints.

An IPS monitor is a must. You can find cheaper ones (eIPS) from Dell. They do cost a bit more than other panels. I think you can get an everyday price around $275-300 but hunt around slickdeals and other deal websites and I've seen some go for as little as $150.

If you just care about House, then disregard the info
