MCW60-r performance vs EK Full Cover. GTX 580

Posted this in the NVIDIA section but didn't any traffic or insight. Might as well try here.

I currently have a MCW60-r on my 580 along with the stock mem heatsink + ghetto aluminum sinks slapped on it for extra heat transfer.

My question is, how much difference can I expect from a full coverage EK block in terms of OC and temps? Have I most likely hit the top already or would a full coverage allow for me to go 970+ core?

Please check sig for current highest Crysis stable clocks.

Temps currently are 29-30C idle 45-47C Load (Crysis 99 loops maxed out)

honestly it wont be to much you have a beast of a card there as it is

You will gain better VRM cooling,I was going to mention restriction but MCW60 is not bad at all

Yeah I really like these universal blocks, I can pretty much just pop a card in and slap that guy on if it lines up right (If not I could always drill the holes to line them). I can't do that with an EK if I ever upgrade lol, it'll have to go too.

That's why I really want some insight if the extra VRM cooling/overall cooler card will even do anything for me.

Thanks guys

It wont be better.

If u want more cooling u can also put a fan on the sinks...that's about it. I wouldnt expect more =(

I have this going on in there. Switching from an AP-14 to an Antec 120mm for more air tomorrow. The stock fan is also whirling around at 70% too. I guess it's not too bad.

You might knock a few degrees off the core temps. VRMs would obviously be substantially cooler, which might or might not help you get a slightly higher OC.

well you won't get much more oc on the gpu, but on the rams... sure
I just installed a ek full cover gtx580 last week and so far I'm at 975/2400 with a load of 42°c, with 1.15v
400mhz oc on the vga ram is so much more than I expected.

Well thanks guys. I'm just going to stick with the MCW60-r since spending extra $ on an EK/pulling apart the loop and getting really nothing in return doesn't exactly sound fun.

+rep to all.
