Logitech G700, is it worth it? - Page 3

Hrmm.. I've never tried that pad so I don't think I can speak on it.

How are you finding the battery life by the way? The battery on my first mouse was awful.

Batter is great, far far batter than the Razer Mamba!

I've got a G700, on the Goliathus speed. I don't see the small movement issue (Setpoint 5.42.34, driver 5.20.51, firmware 22.35), and it tracks beautifully on my pad. I don't feel any lag or delay to speak of in wireless. If it wasn't for the stiff ass cord, I don't think I'd feel a difference.

As for battery, I get a few days out of mine. I just went red at the end of it's third day of light usage, though 2 days is more typical for me. I've had it a few weeks, and I don't see any issue with the chrome peeling on mine. I'd give Logitech a buzz.

Shoot me a PM if I can do anything else to help.

You clearly have never used a G700, X8, or Mamba - and have presented nothing to back up your baseless claim.

I used a G5 and G500 for 5 years and always heard crap about wireless, but I got sick of the tethered feeling from wired. So I thought I'd give the G700 a try.

It blew me away immediately. Very responsive <1ms (same as wired). Can't go wrong with 13 buttons, I can't live without em (especially web browsing). The one thing I love about the G700 that I thought I would hate is the in-mouse AA battery. It's great because I bought a Eneloop recharger + 2 extra batteries on amazon for ~$10 and leave the cover on the bottom of the mouse off, so battery switching is easy.

When I first started using it, the battery would be dead in <1 day of normal non-gaming use. But I realized I could just bump the polling down to 333/s for general PC use. It made a huge difference, and now I can get about 2-3 days worth of heavy computer use on a fully charged eneloop.

I also love the automatic profile switcher in Setpoint. It works a LOT better than my G5 and G500 did. I never have any problems, and it always recognizes the program I'm using immediately whenever I switch windows. I find it much better than using a manual profile switching button. It's much easier to setup certain apps to certain profiles and have Setpoint switch for you. Plus it gives you an extra button smile.gif

@Backfat

He is just riding on the band wagon that WMO and IME are the only semi-decent mices around since they got suckered into the "pro gamers" using them.

Im getting like 2-3days with heavy usage on my battery and im using 1000Hz.. Maybe I should try 333Hz since theres really no difference above 125Hz.

I dont get the wireless mouse hate. If I were a pro at competition level I probably wouldnt use one but Im just your average gamer. Doesnt matter. Ive noticed that a lot of the advice and opinions on this site are just recycled garbage coming from kids with 0 experience.

However, the G700 does act weird in wireless mode. Slow tiny movements are fail. Im back to my DA

I can imagine a couple of problems with the G700. Its weight, its price, its lift off distance, its unfixable acceleration and as you've said, its battery life. Anyway, I'm certain all those mice are overpriced too. I'm also certain that as the price of a wireless mouse goes down, so does its battery life.

It's heavier than my G5, sure. It also has 5 more buttons, and a AA battery inside. I don't mind the weight.

It's liftoff distance is fine. No more than my G5, probably less. It uses the same sensor as the Xai which is touted as an elite gaming mouse, so poor argument there.

You can change it's acceleration in Setpoint.

It's battery life is a non issue when you can buy cheap rechargeable eneloops.

Price? You get what you pay for. Some wired mice (Roccat/R.A.T.) sell for over $100.

None of these arguments have anything at all to do with wireless mice. You just have some strange phobia, or some bad experience with junk mice from 5 years ago. Either way you need to let it go, mice technology has come a long way.

^I don't know what its lift off distance is for sure, but it's a laser mouse and I have not heard of a laser mouse that has anywhere near a good low lift off distance. If you have a G700, do the CD test for us. You can change its acceleration in setpoint, but you can't turn it off. Zero in the software doesn't mean it's off, not with with the adns-9500. I don't recommend the Xai at all, but it does have a couple advantages over the G700. It's claw and weighs much less.

My two main arguments against wireless mice would be that they weigh to much and are overpriced.
