Computer Upgrade Korea

Thread Starter
My friend is upgrading his computer. His current specs are:

Q8200
Some MSI motherboard
500gb HDD
500w PSU

He has 420,000 won to upgrade it ($387)

He has 3 monitors (1920x1080), and he wants to run games in Eyefinity.

I figure he should get more ram, get an aftermarket cooler and overclock, and upgrade the GPU, as well as PSU.

We live in Korea so the prices on these things are quite high.

Can anyone give recommendations as what to buy or to where these things can be found at the best prices?

My take is that he may need to upgrade quite a few things, but in the order of priority:
1.4GB of RAM is needed
2.Q8200 isn't very overclockable, but over 3GHz is possible. At that frequency it can run games reasonably well, but it will be a massive bottleneck in RTS (if he plays that)
3.The PSU, if it is a quality 500W PSU, can power 99% of single card PCs, and if it is a cheapo 500W PSU he may not be able to run anything more than a GTX 460/Radeon 6850
4.For 3xEyefinity he kinda needs a graphics card with 2GB RAM, so the best should be a 6950 2GB (under 300$). This card would be limited by the CPU, but sometime he'll need to upgrade that anyway.

Other stuff: getting a 1GB 6850 would be more in line with the CPU, but neither the card nor the CPU would really be able to run a 3x1080p setup, so when upgrading he'd need to change the graphics card (again) and the CPU. Buying a 6950 2GB now he's only left with a CPU upgrade down the road. No idea where to get them from in Korea, other OCNers could help you there. Cheers

2 Main things to consider with Eyefinity is RAM and VRAM on your GPU. Your GPU VRAM plays a VERY important part in running games at 5760x1080, the more you have the smoother it will be. Same goes with RAM, but that is just from personal experience because i got a smoother play when going from 4GB to 8GB of RAM.
