Need to buy a new Graphics Card

Thread Starter
Hi Guys,

Im thinking of buying a new graphics card and i always had my sights set on the GTX470 but now that the 5 series cards have come out im wondering whether i should invest in one instead.

Does anyone know the ratio of money spent to actual gain in performance? Should i stick with the 470 for the money i will save or is going for a 570 really worth it?

Also, which is the best card out of the 5 series? I know that most people reckoned the 470 was the best all rounder in the 4 series cards, i will be overlocking probabaly anyway so if anyone can point me in the right direction here i would be greatful!

Cheers guys!

The 460 was the best of the 4xx series. I'd get a 560 as it performs the same but has less VRAM which won't matter pretty much, or get a 570, as it performs alot better than 470.

Is there any particular company that i should go for? in the good old days i would have gone for XFX but they've sold their souls to ATI now. All the current companies i havnt really heard of apart from gigabyte and palit but i dont know what theyre like with graphics cards.

570 performs alot better than a 470...proof? Their both Fermis so I'm not sure how you concluded that a 570 is so much better. The 570 uses less power, so you will have less heat. Don't get me wrong, the 570 is a better card but not "alot better."

Both Palit and Gigabyte make good Nvidia cards....it's a matter of preference.

As Zmanster said, its a matter of preference, I would personally go for EVGA or ASUS.

EVGA has the best current warranty available.

If I were you I'd do a 560TI...You're not losing much in terms of performance to the 570 and you're looking at a big improvement over the 470's.

Get two MSI TFIIIs for sure, they have better power phase (6+1), and a normal gtx570 kills itself, sometimes even at stock, due to ****ty VRMs. Plus great cooling, and I'm a EVGA guy myself.

Agreed!! I don't know where these posters come up with comments like this. Both cards are Fermis. How are they SO MUCH better?!?! As I stated in my above post, the 5 series need less power thus producing less heat. This where they are better.
