I've read some threads, but there's so much info out there. Should I use furmark, kombustor, etc.? What kind of settings?

TSM, thanks for being a FUDbuster. I was reading a lot of your posts in the XFX thread. +rep

Kcuestag, have you really pushed your card beyond 950 yet?

Pedros, I can't wait to see your results once you get those cards under water!
Sorry, haven't tried pushing beyond 950/1500.

I will try once I'm back home on May 7th

Breen... me too ... next week i think i will have everything working 100%

But yeah, about the 1000Mhz core ... ppl get there with voltage increase, not on default voltage... so that's why i'm saying, 970Mhz on default is really good man!

Next week, i'll do so benching with the cards... lets hope the second wateblock comes on schedule

I didn't have as much time this weekend to mess with this as I'd thought. However, tonight I got it to run at 980/1500 on stock volts. I ran GPU Tool stability check at full screen for 10 minutes then Kombustor Extreme burn in for 10 minutes on default OpenGL 2 settings. No artifacts.
http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/94pkq/

I also ran the Kombustor Kmark Extreme Preset Benchmark. I get some vertical white lines popping up back and forth across the screen during the combined test. I don't think this is artifacting as it even occurs at stock speeds. Anybody else get that? Other than that, everything seems perfect. Graphics score was 1118.

Edit: back to 970 on the core. SC2 is locking in certain places at 980. No artifacts, just freezes and requires hitting the reset button to get out.

I don't even use kombuster. If it passes an hour of 30 mins of crysis 1/2 it's stable. The white lines, who knows... could be the proggy itself. If it was the card it would show up in 3D on other apps/games.

Pedros, did you ever get your water-cooling set up on these? If you've been reading any of my posts, you'll notice I've actually RMA'd my Sapphire and gone for the MSI Lightning. I really just couldn't deal with the fan noise on the Sapphire. However, I think it's a great card and actually did a little better on stock volts than the lightning. I think that water-cooling it should yield awesome results. I hope that you have it running and that it's working well.

I'm sure I'll get into water cooling someday....

Congrats on getting the waterblocks mounted. Looks pretty cool. I'll bet those things are gonna go well past the 1 ghz mark.

Hi Guys,

Wondering if you could give me a hand.

I too have the 6970 Sapphire 100311-2SR and looking to replace the stock cooler on it as the fan on mine has a very high pitched whine.

I've been looking at getting the Accelero XTREME Plus but from what I have read it will only work on the reference cards.

A new version of the cooler is out now Accelero XTREME Plus II http://www.arctic.ac/en/p/cooling/vg...ii.html?c=2182

So I guess the question would be, do you think the new version of the cooler will work on the card or what would be stopping me from doing so.

I've tried to get in contact with Sapphire and Accelero (Arctic) but I've not heard back from them.

Just thought I'd mention, I've Googled my finger tips bloody trying to find out for myself but I can't find anything definitive.

Any help would be appreciated.

To me, the new reference that you have looks similar enough to the old that it should work with the first accelero version. Somewhere in this thread are comparison pics. Besides, doesn't the accelero itself only make contact with the core? The ram and mosfets are cooled by gluing on the correct heatsink kit from ac. Tsm106 has pointed out that the new reference design is almost identical to the reference 6870. And I believe the accelero supports that, right? In the end, its up to you, bit I bet it works. I haven't seen the version 2 accelero yet.
