5850 CF crashes on Unigine Heaven bench crash.

The benchmark hangs if I select 16xAF & 8xAA.

But runs fine if I select 4xAF & 4xAA

Doesn’t hand any games or anything?

Any idea why it could be? Could it be one of my 5850 is faulty?

Could be the driver or a bad overclock.

If the cards are overclocked then return them to stock and try again.
First things:

1. Are they Overclocked? If so, does it happen on stock? Try it.

2. Have you tried both GPU's sepparately to make sure both are fine alone?

Try that first, also, what drivers are you using?

I thought ATI cards from the 5000 series back couldn't handle x8 AA? Thought that option was available only to Nvidia and the most recent generation from ATI?

Increase AA also increases Vram usage. Probably crashing due to the lack of it.

Lol, of course they can use AAx8...

I remember having AAx8 on my HD5850 and it could handle the games @ 1920x1080 quite good even Bad Company 2 which is quite GPU hungry

1) no

2) yep, individually no probs running 8xAA + 16xAF.

And no crashes in any games I tried yet..

Using 11.3 with cap 1.

just tried swapping the cards around in the PCI-E slots too.. still will crash in crossfire at 16xAF+8xAA.

When I mean crash.. it won't even start up past the loading screen (freezes at that point with a grey screen and FPS at the corner) or goes to the pebble street and in about a sec freezes.

PCE-Ex is on 8x (both) but its 16X when alone, would this make a difference?

Why don't you try the cards alone?

Maybe one of them is death... Try one first, then the other, and see if any fails.

Yep, that's what I meant in answer 2) above, alone they are fine... will run bench mark. Have tried both cards alone, they are not faulty... only on crossfire the benchmark won't run at 16x & 8x.

Not sent from my Nokia 5110 running Froyo.
