*Holds MX510 to ear*
I have an MX510, a 518, a G700 and I recently sold my G500 as I prefer my 518 and I never ever noticed that before

Hehe, you are the second person to tell me this. One of my friends was like "That is strange , mine doesnt.. *keeps ear close to mouse* OH MY "

Sorry. Sometimes ignorance is bliss

I replaced my g500 for a mionix 5000, much better and a lot more confortable.

Something about the surface of the g500 irritated my hand to no end, it was like I was holding sandpaper haha. Otherwise it was a nice mouse, felt sturdy, and I loved the button placement and shape. The grip issue I had was too much for me though, and I had to get rid of it.

Maybe I should take my own hint, seeing as I've now had problems with the g400 and the g500 side grips.

It also makes me sad that the Steelseries Grip isn't sold in the US Steelseries store anymore. It would have probably fixed my issue with either mouse, and I loved them with my 3.0. I'm not paying 8 euros plus shipping for pieces of felt with adhesive on them, though.

Oh man that sucks. I can imagine it happening. When I first held the mouse this was a concern for me as well, but it personally never irritated me. After a little use, it does get a little smoother. So perhaps if you stick with it, the problem will go away (hopefully).

I do like the grip and feel of the sides of this mouse though. That is something that always annoyed me in the deathadder. The sides of that mouse looked and felt almost as if they were made to be slippery. An even better option though would be a rubber-like material on the surface like some other mice have. As far as plastic goes though, I was pretty happy with it.
