Intel or AMD?

Nvidia or ATi?

With that amount of money, I'm sure you could do pretty much whatever you wanted to a desktop.

What country are you from, That's a very nice budget! So you need everything from scratch including Monitor, Speakers, Keyboard, Mouse and Rig?

Umm, no thanks, he should build it himself. It's very easy if my 16 year old sister can do it, anyone can.

here is one of my wish list builds for around that budget. Its air cooling, if you wanted to do water, you would prob have to go with less accessories, like the fan controller or multimedia station.

NZXT Phantom PHAN-001BK - Case

NZXT Sentry LXE Fan Controller

NZXT Bunker 5.25"

Antec Premier Multimedia Station Deluxe

MSI 890FXA-GD70 AM3 AMD 89FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX - MOBO

XFX HD-685X-ZNDC Radeon HD 6850 1gB 256-bit DDR5 x3 (Tri X-Fire)

Corsair Professional Series AX1200 PSU

AMD Phenom II X6 1100T BE

G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)

Corsair Performance 3 Series CSSD-P364GB2-BRKT 2.5" 64GB SATA III x2

Western Digital Caviar Black WD1002FAEX 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s x4

Logitech MX 5500 Keyboard and Mouse Kit

LITE-ON 24X DVD Writer Black SATA

LITE-ON Blu-ray Burner with 3D Playback SATA

ASUS 90-YAA0E0-0UAN00Z 7.1 Channels PCI Interface Xonar Essence Sound Card

NZXT 140mm Case Fan

NZXT 200mm Case Fan x2

Corsair CMXAF2 Fan & heatsinks

Corsair Hydro H70

If I had $3000 to burn for a new build, I would do the following:

unledxm.png

Subtotal: $2,783.71
Shipping: $18.04
Grand Total: $2,801.75

I would not go with Phenom II's with a 3K budget, the performance would be similar to the Intel Core 2 series of processors from a couple of years ago. Sandy Bridge should be highly considered instead.
