First build ever! 3000 dollars budget - Page 3

Ye well, just bcuz I have 4000 dollars to spend does not mean i want to use them "poorly".
Like buying quad SLI when its not rly something I need at all. I do play some heavy games like Crysis 2, BFBC 2 etc, but I doubt I need Quad SLI 4 that, so id rather have some money to spare 4 future upgrades aswell

I just bought a GTX 580 Gainward 3gb phantom, it's pretty damn fast, but the GTX 590 is much faster for only £100 more.

I'm tempted myself to send back my GTX 580, and get a GTX 590 now, hmmm...

580 sli seems like a much better idea than a 590.

You don't need to spend all of it on a computer, you can build a pc almost as fast as the most expensive for much cheaper. For example, you can get 3 6950s and unlock them into 6970s and Tri-fire. That's probably your best bet for video cards. As the processor goes, get the i7 2600k with an asus maximus extreme mobo. For a sound card grab the asus xonar stx or st. Grab a corsair 800d for a case it's really nice, but it's all about what you like in that area really. Buy 8gb of ddr3-1600 memory, find the lowest timing set you can. The H70 is a nice water cooler, but since your budget is so high, have someone pick out custom watercooling parts for you!
It's TURBO TIME!

^ Well, spending more doesn't mean you'll get more.

Crysis 2/BC2 aren't heavy games nor are they hard to run at max.
I pin them both at 60FPS locked, maxed/extreme everything at 1080P.

You need to make a choice with a pricy build like this.
Are you going to want Nvidia Surround/Eyefinity?
The answer to this question determines almost everything else.

I have seen eyefinity on 27" monitors and its not impressive to me.
Its just a stretched image with splits between the screens/monitors.
No games today are really made specifically for it as well.

If I was building a 3K build I would choose between a rig setup for 1600P gaming, or eyefinity/3D Surround. For now and the next year 1600P gaming in the way to go until eyefinity/3D surround are farther along IMO.

Then you make a choice whether to go red or green.
We'll open that can of worms when I hear what you want for a setup.

and if you are going for price/performance then i would go tri or quad sli 560 ti, or am i missing something here? because tri or quad sli 560 ti would out perform a sli 580 for cheaper

I'll just come with a few suggestions here.

I have linked to komplett.no as that is the only norwegian store I know.

i7-2600K
ASUS Maximus IV Extreme
BenQ 23,6" LED XL2410T
Corsair Obsidian 650D
EVGA GeForce GTX 580
Corsair Dominator GT DDR3 2000MHz 4GB
Corsair AX 850W
Western Digital Caviar® Black 1TB
Sony Optiarc DVD±RW Burner
Antec Kuhler H2O 920

I would also get a OCZ Vertex3 120GB ssd to run your OS and your games of choice. Komplett doesen't have that so here is a link to newegg.

It adds up to 18634 without the sdd. The vertex 3 will likely be around 23-2400.

As ive said, I have no problem not using 4000 dollars on a PC
I do want the best base components like the CPU, Motherboard, and PSU.
Just so I dont have to change that in the near future. Id rather upgrade with a new GPU u know.
