Is this worth the extra $64? Comparing two similar laptops.

Im certain about the decision between either of these two, cause they fit my needs and are cheap but still have the power to do stuff. The question is which one do I go with? Basically is an i3 worth $64 over the Athlon II x2? Thanks

Im leaning on this cause its ~$416

I wanna make sure I dont regret not getting this @ ~$470

How good could either of these play games too? Gaming is def not my main concern but if I pick up an mmo again it would be nice.

You can get a better laptop for that money (ie, 4GB of memory instead of just 2) but of those two you are better paying the $64 extra for the intel i3 model, it's a lot faster than the x2.

Get the i3. Will be much better, both in CPU and GPU performance. You'll be glad you did.

Thanks for your input, sorting on newegg by lowest price shows these as the better buys. I really dont want to go more than that $470 one, since my dad is paying for it. I also dont want a netbook cause I like the big screen.

My main use for this is just word processing, skype, webcam, internet and like i said an mmo is a possibility but not important.

So i3 is worth the extra bit of money then... Wonder if the i3 one is really pink or if thats just the picture...

edit- 2 for i3, OK sounds promising, I'll go with that one thanks guys!

AMD one would be better at games, I suggest if you don't work with photoshop or convert movies often, go with the AMD.

No problem Looks more like light brown to me Good news too, you can upgrade the processor in your notebook as well, so when you save up some cash you can upgrade to a better dual-core such as an i7-620M which I've seen go for $150 and i5's for around $100.
Manual here: http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bc/.../c02439213.pdf (Page 83 is processor information).

Also here is what games you'll be able to play:
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-G...D.23065.0.html
Scroll down a bit and you'll see some game benchmark results.

Not in this case. The 4250 and Intel GMA HD are very close in performance and due to the i3 being a MUCH better architecture than the Athlon II the performance win goes to the i3 this time.

The x2 is a good cpu, the i3 is better though

BUT the amd 4250 is MUCH MUCH better than the intel 4500 onboard IGP

I have seen much better laptops... newegg is not the place to buy IMO.

i3 with intel HD (aka youtube videos lag) or Athlon with 4250? hmm...

Thats a big jump in price
For $100 you can spend that on 4 gigs of ram + a 500 gig HD and keep your old ram + hd and have change left over

Those others are pushing it, I really cant afford any higher which is why im settling on either of the two I listed. I bought the i3 one, though it isnt too late to cancel order if I change my mind

So the i3's better processing outweighs the slightly better graphics of the 4250 then is what i get?
