[Clubic]AM3+ CPUs on AM3 boards: it's possible! - Page 6

if even the old 6150 chipset from Nvidia can support AM3, then there is a good possibility a microcode update is all that will be needed on the AMD 7 series chipsets.

And the announced BIOS updates for non "black socket" motherboards doesn't change anything about the "missing pin slots".

I'll be repeating myself along with probably 50 others when I say there are unused pin slots on other sockets as well as additional pins on ES samples.

Now anyways, let me reiterate, do we the lowest compatible NB/SBs yet? I personally think it has more to do with VRM than anything.

(To all the people who say "it's not supported in AM3", take a look at some RMA recommendation threads. I doubt BD processors are going to record which motherboard they're in)

As long as BD is better than my i7 930 I'm definitely buying it.

AM3+ board might offer some advantage over AM3 boards, so I'd wait it out.

My way of looking at it, if it fits and works in my board great I can buy one then see whats restricted etc, then just buy a new board down the line as I feel like it and if it seems worthwhile(which it probably will be in some way or another). I wouldnt go buying an AM3 board now because its on the list of what can take BD as god knows what features etc are going to be missing.
By the way *** is a "clamping function" I always thought it was the lever on my socket lol maybe I have missed that term somewhere, if thats the only downside am sure my big ass heatsink sat on it aint gonna let that thing move.Thats a joke btw I'm just not familiar with the term clamping function. Am sure that its not to do with how its held in. Just dunno what it means.

Also memory speeds of 1866Mhz are officially supported on AM3+.
